My mom reminded me that her Grandfather's name was Hipolit, which seems to be the Polish version of "Philip." Also, my Great-Aunt used to call my Grandfather Francheski (which may have stemmed from Franciszek), although we always knew him as Frank.
Such a personal & life long decision! We were lucky, our son's Polish name was one of our favorites. We just Americanized the spelling. Not very many people have asked...but we also haven't been out & about much yet.
