OK, We're Ready!

I declare that we are officially ready to adopt. The kid's room is cleaned out and ready to go. It is empty and ready for the onslaught of kid stuff. The closet is ready for clothes, the electrical outlet is ready for a night light and the room across the hall is ready to have parents sleeping in it (or not sleeping as the case may be).

We've been educated, we've saved money, we've researched, we've prayed and we have thought long and hard about our path and role as parents. We've talked with counselors, our Priest and people who have been there and done that. We are ready for the new job description.

We also know that we know nothing about being parents. We know there is child proofing to do, but that will be by trial and error. We know to expect diapers, tantrums, lots of hearing "no" and lots of tired whiny times. We understand that there will be bonding and attachment issues to work through. But we also know that our hearts will grow like never before.

We are ready to see Christmas through our child's eyes, to carry a tired child up to bed, and to introduce a child to Loony Toons. We are also ready for a messy house (and openness to a cleaning service), sleepless nights, lack of time to ourselves and an entirely new routine. So...again...we are ready.

I guess that is about all I want to post for now. The call can still come at any time. But we still don't really expect it for another few months. Send lots of good thoughts and prayers towards Poland!
